Sammy Obeid is a Lebanese-Palestinian-Syrian-Italian-American comedian, writer, and host whose work bridges humor and activism, amplifying Palestinian voices on an international level. Born in Oakland, California, and a mathematics graduate from UC Berkeley, Obeid is known for his record-breaking 1,001 consecutive nights of stand-up comedy, “Arabian Nights of Comedy,” and for founding KO Comedy. His sharp and analytic style combines wordplay, clever misdirection, and reflections on his Middle Eastern roots, using comedy as a tool to talk about complex issues like identity, war, and politics. Obeid’s material draws deeply from his heritage and personal experiences, as seen in his “Ceasefire Comedy” tour and performances on shows like America’s Got Talent. He has become a powerful voice for Palestinian representation, unafraid to address controversial topics from occupation to diaspora while fostering connection and resilience through laughter. His work has been profiled in outlets like The New York Times, TIME, and LA Weekly, and his debut album, Get Funny or Die Trying, was named a Best Comedy Album of 2013 by iTunes.
