Performance ~ My Name is Rachel Corrie
Join us on Sunday, July 27th for The Metal Shop Performance Lab's production of MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE.
This moving one-woman play, edited by Katharine Viner and Alan Rickman, is based on the journals and emails of Rachel Corrie, a 23-year old activist killed in 2003 while defending the homes and livelihoods of Palestinians in Gaza.
The insightful writings that Rachel Corrie left behind reveal a compelling story of a young woman’s journey into activism and global consciousness. Using Rachel’s words, the play invites the audience to know Rachel and identify with her fears and uncertainty alongside her idealism, flaws, and unwavering conviction. Rachel’s eye-witness account exhibits the deep admiration and love she found for the Palestinian people, giving audience members a window into their resilience, dignity, and humanity.
The play is performed by Emiley Kiser along with volunteer community readers, and is directed by Alex Mallory. The 85-minute performance will be followed by a facilitated community dialogue. Freewill offerings will be accepted onsite to facilitate future programming.

Exhibition ~ Here the Birds' Journey Begins
The exhibition, Here the Bird’s Journey Begins, is a resonant yet elegant celebration of Palestinian visual and performing arts. It is an artful response to the silencing of Palestinian voices throughout the United States and showcases the generational fortitude within Palestine’s rich culture.
Bright Stars of Bethlehem is a non profit organization that funds Dar al-Kalima, the only fine arts university in all of Palestine. Continuing to support their cause will allow more Palestinian artists to express themselves, exploring themes of reflection, culture, and identity through their craft.
