Malak, Donia, Abood, and Family

Malak, Donia, Abood, and their family are enduring the relentless trauma of war in Gaza, where daily survival is an act of courage. Since October 2023, they have faced repeated displacement, the destruction of their home, and the loss of their small poultry farm—their only source of income. Each attempt to find safety, from the north to the south and then to Rafah, has only brought new dangers and uncertainty. Their elderly parents struggle with illness; their father, recovering from open-heart surgery, and their mother both lack steady access to essential medication. The children, once full of dreams—Malak with her gift for languages, Donia with her passion for art, and young Abood whose childhood has been stolen by fear—have seen their education and creative pursuits shattered by war. Now homeless and with no stable income, the family’s immediate hope is to evacuate Gaza, a costly and daunting prospect that remains out of reach without outside help. Yet, even as they navigate scarcity, loss, and the constant threat of violence, the family refuses to surrender to despair. Their story is one of resilience—a belief that, with the support and compassion of others, they can one day find safety, rebuild, and offer their children a future filled not with fear, but with hope.
