Hussein al-Jerjawi is an 18 year old Palestinian artist and photographer from Gaza whose work powerfully documents life under siege and displacement. Born and raised amid conflict, al-Jerjawi began using unconventional materials like UNRWA flour bags and humanitarian aid boxes as canvases when traditional art supplies became scarce during the Gaza war. Through expressive paintings that depict everyday survival, fractured families, and the enduring search for dignity, his art takes symbols of aid and transforms them into witnesses of Palestinian resilience. Despite enduring multiple displacements and the destruction of his home, al-Jerjawi continues to create and exhibit his work, using art as both a form of resistance and a testament to the memory and identity of his people. His commitment to telling Gaza’s story has made his practice a vital voice for a generation living through ongoing war and uncertainty.
